CSO Summit

The Upper Midwest Security Alliance embraces the fact that practicing security and all of its related areas of application is a lifelong investment in and by our security professionals. This investment has a lifecycle, starting at the schools that educate our beginning security students. These students and new security professionals advance their careers with the support of our professional security organizations that help their members grow their expertise and build lasting relationships with peers within this industry. Ultimately this lifecycle leads them to positions of leadership at the highest levels – thought leadership, corporate leadership, and government leadership.

In May 2013, The Minnesota Chief Security Officer (CSO) Executive Summit joined UMSA in filling the last piece of the investment lifecycle – Lead. The MN CSO Executive Summit (The Summit) is a “Forum for CSOs by CSOs” and is focused on creating and fostering a dynamic peer exchange around the evolving information risk challenges and dynamic regulatory environment confronting Chief Information Security Officers. Partnering with UMSA allows The Summit to fulfill one of their goals of mentoring the next generation of executive security leaders, through educational and collaborative engagements and opportunities. This goal aligns directly with UMSAs mission of education and collaboration.

The Summit organizes and executes quarterly summit meetings, attended by the individual members they support. UMSA will assume the role of event coordination and planning.  As the relationship between UMSA and The Summit grows and matures, additional joint, collaborative events will be developed, further integrating executive thought leadership deeper into the security investment lifecycle.
