The Upper Midwest Security Alliance is thrilled to announce its brand-new scholarship program. In addition to putting on the three Secure360 events, UMSA will continue to support organizations and professionals in the security and risk-related industries as well as provide support in education by offering 12 scholarships in 2018. We are offering four (4) $3,000 scholarships and eight (8) $1,000 scholarships to those who are eligible.
Why Now?
Cybersecurity jobs are consistently on the rise. Just last year there were one million job openings related to cybersecurity – if that doesn’t highlight the need for people to fill these positions, we don’t know what does. As of lately, we are seeing the need for penetration testers, cloud and network security engineers, cybersecurity engineers and CISOs.
We are passionate about supporting those in undergraduate, graduate or continuing education programs in business continuity and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, physical security, governance, risk and compliance. Sustaining these industries is a goal of ours, as well as providing students the opportunity to land jobs they are looking for by preparing them to be exactly what security employers are looking for.
Overall, when we attempt to pinpoint the future of cybersecurity it’s not exactly crystal clear. However, one thing we can be sure to expect in the years to come is continued and increased cybercrime. Hackers continue to develop their skills and abilities to cause cybercrime like never before. We want to play a role in supporting security professionals by equipping them with resources to work against all cyber threats.
