There’s a lot going on this month for security professionals, from educational opportunities like meetings and conferences to golf outings.
At UMSA, we have a number of security organization members who work hard to keep the security community informed. Here is a quick list of upcoming events our members are hosting.
September 11 BCPA meeting – Member Business Continuity Planners Association (BCPA) is hosting its monthly meeting with another UMSA member, InfraGuard Minnesota. BCPA holds regular monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Learn more about their upcoming meetings here.
September 12 ASIS MN golf event – The young professionals group of MN ASIS is hosting a golf event at the 3M Tartan Park Clubhouse & Golf Course. Both members and nonmembers are welcome to get out and golf! Pre-registration is required for this event. Register and get more information here.
September 16 CSA Congress – This year, the Cloud Security Alliance is focusing on privacy and cloud security during their CSA Congress happening in San Jose, California. The conference offers over 80 sessions by privacy and cloud security experts, networking and idea sharing. September 16 ISSA meeting – Minnesota ISSA meets every other month on the third Tuesday. This month, the meeting is taking place at the Ewald Conference Center at 1 p.m. For more information about ISSA meetings, you can check their schedule here.
September 17 MN InfraGard Active Shooter Presentation – This hour-long presentation by the Minneapolis FBI specifically addresses active shooter situations in a business environment. Special Agent Joseph Malhoit will cover what to do in an active shooter situation to increase the probability of survival and how to identify pre-event indicators. He will also be sharing information about past events and statistics. This event is for MN InfraGard members only, and registration is required.
September 17 Sec.MN meeting – At this month’s meeting, Sec.MN takes a look at breach insurance. The cost and impact of losing records, information and data is on the rise, in this meeting you’ll take a closer look at breach insurance. The discussion will provide security professionals with knowledge of what it means to have insurance coverage, what it covers and where it fits in your risk management strategy.
