Due to its exponential growth in recent years, cloud computing is no longer considered an emerging, new-age technology. As the move to the cloud spreads from the largest of enterprises to the smallest of businesses, we inspected this trend further and compiled a short list of some of the benefits of cloud storage for your company.
According to a study by Rackspace Hosting, companies that are moving to cloud storage options are saving money—which they are then putting back into their business to increase headcount, boost wages and drive innovation. The study also found that 88% of cloud user companies pointed to cost savings as the reason they shifted to cloud storage and 56% of respondents agreed that cloud services have helped them boost profits.
It’s a scalable solution
Cloud computing solutions are scalable in that they always have extra capacity available if you need it. If your business unexpectedly adds staff, or otherwise needs additional resources, adding them to the cloud is extremely easy. Unlike many physical solutions, the cloud features a flexible architecture along with fast implementation, adaptable computing power and massively scalable data storage to quickly respond to changing business demands.
The workforce is changing dramatically. Workers are no longer bound to a physical office—largely thanks to cloud computing. Cloud computing solutions provide the mobility and flexibility to securely access your company’s data and applications anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Working for a cloud-based business often means you can work from home and telecommute. This has made a major difference for employees who are struggling to balance life and work.
Collaboration has never been easier
Independent of their physical location, every single employee using the cloud can access, edit, and share their work, exchange ideas and follow recent updates. A recent survey by Frost and Sullivan showed that companies investing in collaboration technologies increased productivity by as much as 400%. Cloud computing allows for easy collaboration between employees. Workers can access relevant files and documents from wherever they are: company headquarters, on a plane or at home.
As you can see, there are some legitimate and efficient reasons why your company should consider looking into investing in cloud storage. Are there any benefits on the list we missed? What are some of the cons to cloud storage? Share your thoughts!
